Living my travel passion
Hi! My name is Rico and I am pursuing my travel passion by exploring indigenous Australia. But let me start a little earlier and explain how all that came to be.
A good friend told me this after he had come back from Ireland and it got me really thinking about the life most people live. Going to school, afterwards University or learning a job, and then doing a job every day except for weekends. Is that the way life should be???
Why do we have to work eight hours or more to make a living. What remains of the day when we come back home from work? These were the questions I reflected upon. When I was studying in University, I got the feeling that I did not want to start working in a job right away. This feeling got more intense when I was hiking in Ireland for two weeks.
Back then I was hiking with my backpack every day, not knowing where I would sleep the next night. Those days were so memorable, that I can still recall every single day of my two weeks hike. Since then I have travelled to many more countries, gaining more experience and knowledge about other cultures on earth with every trip. Check out my travel resources for other great travel destinations in the world.
But those were only short trips and I wondered what an experience it would be to travel for a year or maybe longer? The decision was clear.
After I had finished my studies, I got myself a working holiday visa and flew to Australia. As I was travelling around I came across the Aboriginal culture. Although I had heard about it in school, I was not aware that the culture is still very active in Australia. Soon I became fascinated about their rich culture. Also the spirituality of the Aboriginal culture inspires me.
Here in Australia you find a culture that has been living in harmony with nature for probably over 40,000 years. I want to give you the opportunity to read about this ancient culture that has survived for so long. Not only read about it, but also to be able to experience it with the information provided on this website.
In my oppinion an experience of something is the most valuable thing in life. Experiences enrich our life and give us a better understanding of how the world is. One third of the stuff I had to memorise for exams, I have probably forgotten already. However the people I have met, the things I have learned, the thoughts and the feelings, the memorable views, and the joy I have had on my travels are still very strong in my mind.
This ancient culture of the Aboriginal people seems to me to have something important to teach us all. This is why I am passing the story of my experiences and what I have learned on to you. Enjoy reading this website and I hope you find the information provided here very helpful.
